Access to Information

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) gives you the right to request access to records held by public bodies, including records that contain your own personal information and records that contain information about TNRD activities.

There are three ways to access information held by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District:

  1. Public: Access information made publicly available through the TNRD website.
  2. Routine: Access information routinely released by TNRD departments.
  3. Formal: Request access to information through a formal Freedom of Information Request.

Accessing Publicly Available Information

The TNRD proactively makes information available through its website, including but not limited to the following:

Accessing Routinely Released Information

Requests for information that is not confidential or sensitive are routinely released by TNRD staff departments.

Making a Freedom of Information Request

Requests for records that may contain confidential or sensitive information, are not publicly available or routinely released, and require that you make a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request. FOI requests are processed by the TNRD’s Corporate and Legislative Services department.
