Strategic Plan

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District is proud to share the 2020-2022 Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan sets out a series of priorities, including six high-priority strategic priorities to guide the TNRD’s use of resources over the current term.  The priorities are organized and presented under six themes:

  • Economic Sustainability & Resiliency
  • Livability, Connectivity & Infrastructure
  • Strategic Relationships & Partnerships
  • Dynamic Communication & Branding
  • Emergency Planning & Response
  • Climate Action & Environmental Stewardship

Listed alongside the priorities are specific actions that have been identified by staff in support of the priorities.  Staff will report to the Board regularly on progress made on these actions.

Strategic Plan Progress

As of April 2023, the TNRD is completed or is in progress on 94% of Action Items outlined in the 2020-22 Strategic Plan. This is up from 90% in October 2022. Further, 73% of items are fully completed, which is up from 45% in October 2022.

Purpose of the Strategic Plan

The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to foster a common understanding of the issues facing the region, and establish a strategic approach to addressing our priorities and challenges. The plan aligns with current policies and ongoing projects, and provides a roadmap for new initiatives with our vision of the future top of mind. The plan is a tool for determining the allocation of financial and human resources. It will help the Board with decision-making, and provide direction for staff.
