The Mountain Resort Municipality of Sun Peaks was incorporated in 2010. As a relatively new municipality, the permanent population of Sun Peaks more than doubled between 2016 and 2021. Sun Peaks Resort is the second-largest ski area in Canada, nestled between three mountains on the edge of the Shuswap Highlands.
