TNRL Announces One Book Wednesdays Virtual Event Series

Kamloops, BC – May 5, 2022 – The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) is hosting a series of virtual events during May as part of the inaugural One Book, One Community initiative, which features the book Five Little Indians by award-winning author Michelle Good.

One Book Wednesdays will take place virtually on May 11, 18 and 25, 2022, to ensure ease of accessibility. Programs have been designed to maximize reader engagement with Five Little Indians, and to enhance the shared reading experience.

May 11: Join the TNRL for a free virtual screening of British Columbia: An Untold History – Change and Resistance (episode 1), from 6:30-8:30 pm. This episode of the documentary series provides a retelling of British Columbia from the diverse people, families, rebels and dreamers who shaped the province.

May 18: The TNRL is joined by Indigenous author and filmmaker, Doreen Manuel, to talk about her book Brotherhood to Nationhood: George Manuel and the Making of the Modern Indian Movement. Manuel will also discuss Political Indigenous History and Indigenous movement in Canada. This virtual event will take place from 6:30-7:30 pm.

May 25: Please join the Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park for a virtual presentation on the history of the Kamloops Indian Residential School. This virtual event will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm.

One Book, One Community (OBOC) is a unique partnership between the TNRL, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) and the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) Library.
