Thompson-Nicola Film Commission Launches Free Digital Photo Library

Kamloops, BC—September 8, 2020—The Thompson-Nicola Film Commission has launched its new digital photo library, Explore TNRD, consisting of more than 10,000 print-quality images of the Thompson-Nicola region. The image library may be used free of charge for non-commercial use by Thompson-Nicola Regional District-based non-profit organizations, tourism, economic development and government agencies, and Indigenous organizations.

“This project has a double significance because it supports our regional agencies as they struggle to promote our region through this challenging period of time, and it reminds us that we’re very fortunate to live in a vibrant and beautiful region,” said TNRD Chair Ken Gillis.

Regional photographers were hired to capture the region from economic development, tourism, and social perspectives. Subjects include local events, activities, places, people, animals, and nature, plus the many services that the Regional District provides, all throughout the seasons.

The Explore TNRD Digital Photo Library initiative is primarily funded by the BC Rural Dividend Fund, as well as the Southern Interior Development Trust Initiative and Film Commission. “The project ends in March 2021 and we expect to have an additional 8,000 images added by then,” reports Victoria Weller, Film Commissioner.

Explore TNRD can be accessed through or Photos may be purchased by contacting the photographer directly. Each photo in Explore TNRD includes information about the photographer and subject.
