‘One Book, One Community’ Events Upcoming in TNRD Communities

Kamloops, BC – April 26, 2024 – The public is invited to take part in several events scheduled between May 3 and 6, 2024, as part of the One Book, One Community (OBOC) shared reading experience, hosted by the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL).

The 2024 Read for the OBOC program is Greenwood, an award-winning and national best-selling novel by author Michael Christie. Greenwood weaves family history with the timeless beauty of Vancouver Island’s old-growth forests – exploring complex family dynamics, inter-generational relationships, and profound impacts of tree loss in B.C.

As part of the OBOC shared reading experience, Christie will take an author tour to select Thompson-Nicola libraries and the Paramount Theatre in Kamloops, and will host a writing workshop as well. A full list of events is as follows:

Friday, May 3: Author Tour

  • Merritt Library: 1:00 to 2:30 pm
  • Ashcroft Library: 5:00 – 6:30 pm

Saturday, May 4: Author Tour

  • Barriere Library: 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
  • Clearwater Library: 2:30 to 4:00 pm

Sunday, May 5: Writing Workshop

  • Kamloops Library: 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Monday, May 6: Author Tour

  • Chase Library: 2:00 to 3:30 pm
  • Paramount Theatre (Kamloops): 6:00 to 7:30 pm
