Notice of First Reading: Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2841 (Bill 44 Requirements)

TAKE NOTICE that the Thompson-Nicola Regional District proposes to amend Zoning Bylaw No. 2400, 2012.

The proposed Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2841, 2024, will increase the maximum permitted residential density of low-density neighbourhoods in order to comply with new Provincial legislation, Bill 44 (also known as the new “small-scale, multi-unit housing” legislation).

Bylaw No. 2841 will enable secondary suites on all lands in the WR-1, LR-2, RA-2, CD-2, CD-3, and CD-4 zones. Secondary suite parking and condition of use requirements are also included in the bylaw amendment.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District will consider first reading of the proposed amendment on:

This publication serves as notice that no public hearing will be held for the proposed zoning amendment. Provincial legislation prohibits local governments from holding a public hearing for the sole purpose of amending a zoning bylaw in order to comply with the new Small-Scael Multi-Family Housing legislations (see: Local Government Act, section 464(4)).

Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2841, 2024, is available for review on the TNRD website by clicking here. Copies of the proposed amendment bylaw and all supporting information, can be inspected from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays), from the date of this notice until 1:30 p.m., May 16, 2024, at:
