TNRD Implements Vaccine Policy for Employees, Contractors, Volunteers

Kamloops, BC – December 6, 2021 – In order to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, our workplaces, and the public we serve, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has announced that COVID-19 vaccination will be a requirement for employees, contractors and volunteers as of February 1, 2022.

This requirement builds on existing health and safety measures within the TNRD, and aligns with guidance from the provincial health officer recommending vaccine policies by employers. The deadline for implementing the vaccine policy allows sufficient time for those who have not received a first vaccine dose to be fully vaccinated.

“Being vaccinated is the most effective measure to limit the spread of COVID-19,” said Chief Administrative Officer, Scott Hildebrand. “Making vaccination a requirement is an important step to ensuring our workplaces are as safe as possible for our employees and the public.”

Employees, contractors and volunteers who choose not to comply with the policy by February 1, 2022, will not be eligible to work or provide services. Accommodations will be available for those who cannot be vaccinated based on a medical condition or a reason related to a protected ground under the BC Human Rights Code.
