Kamloops, BC – March 30, 2023 – The Thompson Regional Hospital District (TRHD) Board of Directors has approved the 2023-2027 Financial Plan and funding requests for contributions to capital equipment purchases in 2023.
An average home assessed at $600,000 within the TRHD will pay approximately $176.58 in 2023 for their portion of residential hospital district taxes, which is a decrease compared to $205.32 in 2022. This decrease is due to new assessment growth in the TRHD residential tax base, and also due to utility and business classes taking up a larger share of the overall tax base and reducing the overall taxes owing for the residential class as a result.
The tax requisition in the 2023 budget is just under $16.4 million, which represents a 1.5% increase over the prior year. The 2023 budget includes $5,976,000 in spending on capital equipment at healthcare facilities within the TRHD boundaries. For a list of capital projects included in the TRHD 2023 budget, click here.
“The adjustment of our overall budget by 1.5% is intended to put money towards Phase 3 of the Royal Inland Hospital facility master plan,” said Board Chair Mike O’Reilly.
