Open House for Blue River Community Water System Improvements

Kamloops, BC—September 24, 2021 — an open house on community water system improvements will be held in Blue River on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Blue River Community Hall, located at 885 Main Street.

The October 6 open house will provide an overview of the water system improvement project, with information provided by the TNRD, Interior Health, and TRUE Consulting for customers on the Blue River Community Water System.

In March 2021, the TNRD commissioned TRUE Consulting to complete the design of water treatment system improvements for the Blue River Community Water System. The project will add water treatment through chlorination, which is the process of adding chlorine to drinking water to protect drinking water quality. Chlorination prevents the growth of harmful bacteria and inactivates viruses and microorganisms that can cause serious illness if consumed.

Chlorine disinfectants are a proven and effective method for treating drinking water for water-borne infections. The Blue River Community water system is the only TNRD water system that does not currently use a disinfection process.

Capacity will be limited to 50 people at a time to ensure all COVID-19 health and safety guidelines are met. Residents who are unable to attend the meeting in-person can view the presentation and associated documents at https://www.tnrd.ca/blue-river-community-water-system/
