TELUS has advised the Thompson-Nicola Regional District of a cell and internet outage that will be in effect in Spences Bridge from 12 am to 5 am on March 22, 2023 to allow for necessary repairs to a fibre cable that services the area.
TELUS plans to replace a section of fibre cable adjacent to Highway 1 which was struck and damaged by a third party in 2022. As a result of that damage, a temporary fix was created with the understanding that a further repair would be needed. To complete this repair work, TELUS advises that this interruption of cell and internet outage is necessary.
Residents who require emergency services during the outage can call 9-1-1 using a landline telephone or a cell phone with a different network provider, or, if possible, they can report to the nearest hospital.
