Kamloops, BC – February 27, 2024 – Residents of Birch Island are encouraged to attend an upcoming public information meeting being hosted on March 5, 2024 by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).
The purpose of this meeting is to provide information on the proposed expansion of the existing Vavenby Fire Protection Service Area to include the community of Birch Island. The information shared will include property tax impacts for the proposed service.
All information shared at the meeting will be available to community members who are not able to attend in person. No formal decisions will be made at this meeting; however, residents will be encouraged to give feedback through a public survey, which will be available at the meeting and available online for residents who do not attend the meeting in person.

Where: Vavenby Community Hall: 89 Vavenby Bridge Road, Vavenby, BC
In attendance at the meeting will be representatives from the Vavenby Fire Department, TNRD staff, and TNRD Electoral Area “A” Director Usoff Tsao.
Residents are encouraged to come early to attend an Open House at the Vavenby Fire Department from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The Vavenby Fire Hall is located next to the Vavenby Community Hall.
