Notice: Green Lake and Area Official Community Plan Meeting

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) and Cariboo Regional District (CRD) will be co-hosting a public meeting on May 6, 2023 to consult Green Lake area residents on proposed amendments to the Green Lake and Area Official Community Plan (OCP).

The public meeting will take place at the Green Lake Snowmobile Club, located at 176 Green Lake Rd South, beginning at noon. As there is limited space, residents planning to attend are asked to RSVP by May 5, 2023 to planning@tnrd.ca.

The proposed changes would clarify wording and exemptions regarding the OCP Development Permit (DP) areas for the Riparian DP (section 20.1), Environmentally Sensitive DP (section 20.2), and the Hazardous Lands DP (section 20.3). The proposed changes would also add guidance to the Temporary Use Permits process (section 10.0) with this OCP area.

These proposed changes would make processes simpler in many situations for landowners and TNRD staff, and less costly for applicants. To learn more about these proposed changes, read a short Frequently Asked Questions sheet by clicking here.

The CRD and TNRD encourage residents to attend the public meeting or to provide written submissions regarding these proposed changes.

The Board approved first reading of the Green Lake and Area OCP amendment bylaw on September 22, 2022, which gave direction to TNRD staff to proceed with drafting these proposed changes. After further review by staff, amendments have also been proposed to the TUP. To read the Board report on first reading, click here.

The Green Lake and Area OCP has a unique structure, as it is the only OCP in B.C. with a Plan area that covers parts of two regional districts. To find more information on Development Permit Areas within the Green Lake and Area OCP, and criteria for the existing OCP, click here.
