Community Weed Pull Program


The TNIPMC encourages community organizations to become local stewards by controlling invasive plants at a high priority invasive plant site.  The first 10 community groups that sign up to host a weed pull, within a given year,  will be offered a $200 honorarium for hosting the weed pull event.  The Community Weed Pull program will run from June 1st to August 31st annually. 

Eligibility & Requirements

Any interested community organization or group can participate (sports teams, youth  groups/clubs, non-profit societies, community service groups, church groups, etc.).  Participating groups must:

What Plants Can Be Pulled?

Groups will only be able to control non-toxic invasive plants that are safe to hand pull:

  • Blueweed
  • Spotted knapweed
  • Diffuse knapweed
  • Hoary alyssum
  • Common burdock
  • Others as pre-approved by the TNIPMC

The Thompson Nicola Invasive Plant Management Committee, nor the Thompson- Nicola Regional District will be held liable for any incidents or injuries that occur during this event.
