2022 Annual Report Shows Progress on Service Delivery and Accountability

Kamloops, BC – May 18, 2023 – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) is pleased to share the 2022 Annual Report with residents and the public. This document provides information about the regional district, the role of the TNRD and Board of Directors, services provided by the TNRD, and key progress made on priorities during 2022 – all displayed in an easy-to-read format.

In 2022, a significant measure of progress for the TNRD was increased accountability. More than 30 Board and Administrative policies were updated or newly created, and the TNRD completed more than 90% of recommendations made by BDO Canada following a forensic audit that was completed in late 2021. The TNRD also successfully carried out the Monte Creek Fire Protection Service Referendum and the General Local Elections, and as part of these public assent processes, TNRD staff worked to provide thorough information to eligible voters in multiple formats, including through interactive maps showing election and voting details for eligible properties.

May 14-20, 2023 is also Local Government Awareness Week in B.C., which has a purpose of building public awareness of local government roles and encouraging participation in local government processes. The TNRD encourages the public to read the 2022 Annual Report to help grow their understanding of the regional district, and to stay informed of ongoing activities.
