TNRL & Interior Savings Launch ‘Internet to Go’ Kits at Merritt Resiliency Centre

Kamloops, BC – January 4, 2022 – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) and Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) are continuing to support flood-affected residents. Today, the TNRL has announced the launch of a new pilot program, Interior Savings Internet to Go kits.

Starting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the program will make 15 Chromebook laptops and Kajeet hotspot devices available to loan for up to four weeks at a time. The kits will be available at the Merritt Resiliency Centre, located at 1950 Mamette Ave.

The Interior Savings Internet to Go kits have been made available thanks to a donation of $20,000 to the Merritt Branch of the TNRL from Interior Savings Credit Union, to help in the flood recovery efforts in the area.

“We are so grateful for support from Interior Savings to help keep our residents connected, at a time when they greatly need it,” TNRL Chief Librarian Judy Moore said. “Laptops will be loaned at no charge, ensuring all residents are able to access the services and supports they need at this time.”

In total, Interior Savings has donated $45,000 to organizations in the Merritt area to aid in flood recovery.

”As a credit union serving the Merritt and area community, we have many staff and members who have been deeply impacted by recent floods,” Interior Savings CEO Kathy Conway said. “We know everyone will do what they can to help their neighbours through this difficult time, and we want to do our part.”
