Notice: Interior Health Advising of Algae Bloom on Mamit Lake

As of Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Interior Health is advising residents and visitors of an algae bloom on Mamit Lake, located south of Logan Lake adjacent to Highway 97C.

Interior Health states that an algae bloom has the potential to produce toxins that can be harmful to human, and provides the following directives:

  • Avoid all direct contact with the algae bloom. If contact is made, rinse your body with clean water.
  • Recreational activities, such as swimming, are discouraged.
  • Do not consume drinking water directly from the lake. If your source of water intake is Mamit Lake, consider using an alternate source for drinking water. If applicable, contact your water supplier for more information.
  • Consider providing pets and livestock with an alternate source of drinking water.
