Evacuation Order – Young Lake Wildfire – Electoral Area “E” (Bonaparte Plateau)

Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the BC Emergency Program Act, an Evacuation Order has been issued by Chair Ken Gillis from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Kamloops.

A wildfire event located in the vicinity of Young Lake is threatening structures and the safety of residents in Electoral Area “E” (Bonaparte Plateau).

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for the following 103 addressed properties:

  • 8852 to 8920 Cleveland Rd;
  • 8928 to 9252 Eagan Cres;
  • 6385 to 9550 Eagan Lake Rd;
  • 1885, 5670 and 5760 Eagan-Bonaparte Lake FSR;
  • 7181 to 7480 North Bonaparte Rd;
  • 2996 to 3185 Reed Rd;
  • 8233 Sharpe Lake Access No 1 Rd;
  • 1780 to 2265 Sharpe Lake Rd;
  • 1820 to 1885 Taylor Rd; and
  • any other properties located within the boundary noted on the attached map.

If you are in the described area, you must leave immediately.

There is a critical shortage of commercial accommodations in Kamloops and throughout the region. If your primary residence has been evacuated, we recommend that you arrange to stay with friends or family. You can access other Emergency Support Services (for meals and other necessities) by reporting to the McArthur Island Sports Centre located at 1655 Island Parkway in Kamloops between 0900 and 1900 hrs.

You can self-register ahead of time using the Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool at: https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ or by calling the Emergency Support Services Info Line at 1-800-585-9559. To receive services, you must still report to the Reception Centre at McArthur Island, even if you have registered online.
