Evacuation Order – White Rock Lake Wildfire – Electoral Area “L”

Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the BC Emergency Program Act, an Evacuation Order has been issued by Chair Ken Gillis from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Kamloops.

A wildfire event located in the vicinity of Westwold is threatening structures and the safety of residents in Electoral Area “L” (Grasslands).

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for 32 properties addressed as: 

  • 5300 to 5731 Back Rd;
  • 6562 to 6580 Becker Rd;
  • 6651 to 6778 Douglas Lake Rd;
  • 6671 to 6919 Service Rd; and
  • any other properties within the boundary noted on the attached map.

If you are in the described area, you must leave immediately.

Emergency Support Services will only be provided if your primary residence is one of the properties under evacuation order.

There is currently no commercial lodging available in Kamloops. If your primary residence has been evacuated, please stay with friends or family for the night and then report to the McArthur Island Sports Centre, located at 1655 Island Parkway in Kamloops, tomorrow (July 21) between 0900 and 1600 hrs to register for Emergency Support Services.

If you cannot stay with friends or family please report to the Salvation Army Building at 1480 Sutherland Avenue in Kelowna for group lodging.

If you choose, you can assist the registration process by self-registering using the Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool https://ess.gov.bc.ca/  or by calling the Emergency Support Services Info Line at 1-800-585-9559.
