Rebate and Cost-Share Programs

50% Cost Share Program

The TNRD will rebate landowners up to 50% of the cost of noxious weed control done by a contractor using herbicides on their private land. Landowners who have 160 acres or less qualify for a maximum rebate of $1500 (50% of $3000). Landowners who have over 160 acres qualify for a maximum rebate of $3000 (50% of $6000). This rebate may be applied for on a yearly basis for work done the same calendar year. See the conditions below to find out how to qualify for the rebate:

• The herbicide treatment must be done by a licensed applicator from the TNRD Noxious Weed Control Contractor List.
• The treatment area must be within a TNRD electoral area (outside of municipal boundaries)
• A 50% Cost Share Application must be completed along with all required attachments
• Rebates are issued based on funding availability and the order the applications are received
• Weeds treated must be on the Provincial or Regional Noxious Weed List. Other invasive plants may qualify, contact the TNRD for confirmation
• Rebate application forms must be submitted along with accompanying documents no later than October 1st of the same year the work is completed

How to Apply

Submit the following documents after the work has been completed on your property

• 50% Cost Share Application form
• Copy of applicators’ invoice
• Map showing treatment area (completed by certified applicator)
• Herbicide treatment day sheet (completed by certified applicator)

Herbicide Rebate Program

The TNRD is introducing a new program in which landowners can be rebated for the herbicide purchased to control noxious weeds. The TNRD will rebate 50% to a maximum of $250 of the cost of herbicide purchased by landowners who treat noxious weeds with their own spray equipment or utilize the TNRD sprayer loan-out program. This rebate may be applied for on a yearly basis for work done the same calendar year. See the conditions below to find out how to qualify for the rebate:

• The herbicide treatment must be done by an individual with a valid pesticide applicator certificate.
• The treatment area must be within a TNRD electoral area (outside of municipal boundaries)
• The herbicide treatment must be completed the same calendar year the herbicide is purchased.
• Herbicides used must be classified as an agricultural herbicide, designed to control noxious weeds on range and pasture.
• Herbicides that qualify will have one or more of the following active ingredients; Picloram, 2,4-D, Aminopyralid, Dicamba, Clopyralid.
• Herbicide spray contractors do not qualify for this rebate.
• Rebates are issued based on funding availability and the order in which the applications are received
• Weeds treated must be on the Provincial or Regional Noxious Weed List (www.al.gov.bc.ca/cropprot/noxious.htm). Other invasive plants may qualify, contact the TNRD for confirmation
• Rebate application forms must be submitted along with accompanying documents no later than October 1st of the same year the work is completed

• Map showing treatment area (hand drawn is acceptable)
• Herbicide treatment day sheet

New Invaders Program

New invaders weeds have limited populations or have not yet established in the TNRD, but are close to our borders. These plants are extremely invasive, and are a top priority in our management programs. Landowners may qualify for 100% rebate for chemical control of these plants on private land. The “New Invaders List” is determined and re-evaluated regularly by the TNRD Invasive Plant Committee. This rebate may be applied for on a yearly basis for work done the same calendar year. See the conditions below to find out how to qualify for the rebate:

• 100% rebate only applies to treatment of weeds on the new invaders list
• The herbicide treatment must be done by a licensed applicator from the TNRD Noxious Weed Control Contractor List.
• The treatment area must be within a TNRD electoral area (outside of municipal boundaries)
• A New Invaders Application form must be completed along with all required attachments
• Rebates are issued based on funding availability and the order the applications are received
• Rebate application forms must be submitted along with accompanying documents no later than October 1st of the same year the work is completed
