      Corporate & Community Services


      The Corporate and Community Services Department oversees both corporate services and a broad range of community services for the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

      Corporate Services



      The department serves as a link between the Board of Directors, staff and the general public. The department also helps to ensure that the regional district adheres to provincial and federal legislation as well as its own bylaws and policies.

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Preparing and distributing Board and various Committee agendas
      • Ensuring accurate recording of the proceedings of the Board and its committees
      • Maintaining and overseeing the safekeeping of corporate and official records and information
      • Conveying decisions of the Board for action or information
      • Preparing bylaws – service establishment, loan authorization, security issuing and regulatory
      • Conducting elections and referendums in the rural areas
      • Overseeing establishment of new services
      • Preparing and managing contracts and agreements
      • Managing the information and privacy program under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
      • Ensuring that statutory obligations are met
      • Acting as a conduit between the public, other governments, government agencies and the Board


      Community Services



      The Community Services Department provides leadership, expertise and support to a variety of functions within the Regional District. Those Community Services include but are not limited to community and regional parks, cemeteries, recreation, fire protection, 9-1-1, transit, television rebroadcasting and community halls. The Thompson-Nicola Regional District provides services to the ten electoral areas, and additional services in cooperation with its member municipalities and First Nations groups.
